The economic situation has forced the government to call for an emergency meeting between the Federal and State government.

President Bola Tinubu presiding over the meeting with state governors as part of the efforts at finding remedies to rising cost of food items, insecurity and other economic issues.

 

Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) Chief Nyesom Wike; and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun are also at the meeting, which commenced around 11:30am.

It was gathered the ongoing emergency meeting is expected to come out with the solution on how to mitigate the rising cost of food items, insecurity and other economic issues.

There have been protests in two states already over the current economic and security situation in the country.

Rising from this emergency meeting, the governors would be proceeding into the monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to be presided over by Vice President Shettima.
