7th of February 2024, is so  significant in the history of Warri Kingdom.

It marks 88 years since the Kingship in Warri resumed ruling after a long interregnum that lasted for 88 years.

This momentous occasion fills the hearts of all Itsekiri people around the world with pure joy and happiness. It is a reminder of the hardships our ancestors endured during that interregnum, a time when we lost control of our lands and wealth.

However, hope was restored when Prince Emiko Ikengbuwa ascended the throne as Olu Ginuwa II, succeeding his grandfather Olu Akengbuwa (1795 – 1848).

The restoration of the Oluship brought immense happiness and joy to the land of Warri, as our revered father returned after years of disagreements among the princes.

Today, as we celebrate 88 years since the resumption of the Warri Kingdom after the interregnum, it is a day filled with immense happiness for the entire Itsekiri nation.

Let us take a moment to honor and remember the noble kings who have ruled over us for the past 88 years since the resumption:

– Olu Ginuwa II (1936 – 1949)
– Olu Erejuwa II (1951 – 1986)
– Olu Atuwatse II CON (1987 – 2015)
– Olu Ikenwoli (2015 – 2020)

And now, we proudly acknowledge and celebrate the current king of Warri, His Majesty
OGÍAMÈ ATUWATSÉ III CFR,
the Olú Of Warri Kingdom.

On this special day, let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Itsekiri nation and the Warri Kingdom. May our heritage, traditions, and unitycontinue to thrive under the wise and benevolent rule of His Majesty.

Ogiame suooo!
