There are indications that the 2024 Budget will be passed by the Senate on Saturday, December 30, 2023, NewsSpecng learnt.
The Senate, according to the Clark of the Senate is expected to hold plenary by 1pm prompt to consider and pass the 2024 budget.
The Senate had on Wednesday 21st December 2023 adjourned plenary till Friday 29th December to consider and pass the 2024 budget.
This was later shifted However, in a statement by the Clerk to the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze a few days later, the date was shifted till Saturday 30th December 2023, at 10am.
Akabueze in a new statement made available to newsmen on Saturday morning, said the plenary will now hold as from 1pm prompt.
It would recalled that the Federal Government of Nigeria on 29 November presented the 2024 Budget proposal to the National Assembly. The Budget titled “Budget of Renewed Hope” shows a proposed expenditure of NGN27. 5 trillion and an estimated revenue of NGN18. 32 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year.
