President Bola Tinubu has applauded Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara for advocating for peace in the state.

Tinubu spoke on Boxing Day when after receiving state Governors at his residence in Lagos.

President Bola Tinubu amongst other thing spoke about the crisis in Rivers as a result of a rift between the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The President broker peace, leading to signing an agreement by the two warring parties

Both parties, according to report have commenced the implementation of the agreements.

Though, groups in the state have rejected the agreement, saying that the governor signed under duress.

Fubara had however said no sacrifice is ever too much for peace, adding that the agreement he signed for the sake of peace is not a death sentence.

Tinubu who praised the governor said, “I thank you for your statesmanship. I listened to your broadcast and your emphasis on peace. It is only with peace that effective governance can thrive, and governance has commenced in earnest under my watch.”
