Breaking : Fubara signs 2024 appropriation bill into law

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N800bn into law.

This is coming a day after he presented the budget estimates to the five member  State House of Assembly led by Edison Ehie.

The signing ceremony was held on Thursday in the conference room of the Governor’s Office at the Government House.

While presenting the governor said his administration aims at promoting economic development through inclusive growth and addressing socio-economic inequality in the state.

He added that the N800, 392,485,433.01 billion constitutes a Recurrent Expenditure of 361,598,242,570.85 and a Capital Expenditure of 410,266,485,090.64.

In another development, The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adango, has resigned from office.

Adango, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria disclosed this in a resignation letter on Thursday addressed to the office of the governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

He stated that his resignation is based “purely on personal principles”.

He said “I hereby give your excellency notice of my resignation as the honorable Attorney-General and commissioner for justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter. For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based purely on personal principles.”

He further commended governor Fubara for the privilege to serve in his administration wishing him a successful tenure in office.

Meanwhile The 25 Rivers State Assembly Members whose seat were declared vacant disobeyed Governor Sim Fubara and held plenary at the auditorium of the House of Assembly quarters on Thursday 14 December

The members who are Wike loyalists berated the State governor for pulling down the House of Assembly.
