The Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry, ACCI on Thursday inaugurated a new Executive Committee under the leadership of Chief Emeka Akajiugo Obegolu, SAN.
Obegolu who was inaugurated alongside other Executive members is the 12th elected president of the Chamber, which was established in August, 1986 as a Company Limited by Guarantee with the principal objective of promoting economic and industrial development within the FCT in particular and Nigeria in general.
He was the immediate past 1st Deputy President of ACCI
The Chamber also has a new Director General in person of Sir Agabaidu Chukwuemeka Jideani.
Also, Prof Adesoji Adesugba who was the immediate past 2nd Deputy President climbed the lather to become the 1st Deputy President, While Dr Aliyu Idi Hong was elected as the 2nd Deputy President of ACCI.
In his remarks, the outgoing President, Dr. Abubakar Al-mujtaba said ACCI recorded remarkable achievements as a result of several critical factors, including but not limited to strategic planning, unalloyed and abiding faith in the vision of the Chamber as one of the foremost Chambers in Nigeria.
He also noted that the Chamber witnessed progress over the past year with the recent recognition by CIPE as a member of the Afeican usiness integrity network.
He listed milestones achieved to include: expand engagement with government, business, and diplomatic community through advicacy; capacity development of members of staff; involved in influencing government policies o benefit business environment; optimization in the use of the property of the Chamber amongst others.
