Breaking, Alleged Murder of Village head: Court oders arrest of 12 suspects

No fewer than twelve suspects  have been ordered to be arrested for alleged murder of the village head of Lambata, Alhaji Muhammad Abdulsafur.

Justice Aisha Wodu Bawa of High Court 3 Suleja, issued the  ordered to the Area Commander Suleja ACP Sani Musa to effect the arrest of twelve suspects.

The twelve suspects were said to have participated in the killing of the late traditional ruler some time in January 2023 and since then they have been on the run, evading police arrest.

The prosecuting counsel Halilu Umar , Chief state counsel in the Ministry of Justice told Justice Aisha Bawa Wodu that five other suspects who participated in the killing of the Monarch were still going about freely in Lambata .

” My Lord.twelve of the suspects alleged to have fully participated in the killing of the village head were not arrested by the police.

” These People are going about freely in Lammbata town without police doing anything to bring them to face the full wrath of justice.

” My Lord, I want to pray to the court to order the Area Commander Suleja Police Command to arrest them and bring them to court at the
next adjourned date.” he told the court.

Those on the run according to the prosecuting counsel are,Dauda Umar Sarki, Hamza Umar Sarki, Yusuf Chaska, Zubairu Dambaka, Abdulkareem Dantani and Yusuf Sarki.

Others include Ibrahim Umar, Zakari Mohammed, Mohammed Ma’aji, Kabir Mohammed , Isyaku Adamu and Ibrahim Umar.

While ruling on the application moved by the prosecuting counsel Justice Aisha Bawa Wodu told the registrar to immediately write to the area commander of Suleja directing him to arrest the fleeing suspects and arraign them in the next adjourned date.

She however, granted bail to thirteen other suspects standing trial before the court in the sum of one million naira and each of them will bring a surety who must be a civil servant of level twelve and the surety must deposit his first appointment letter and letter of last promotion to be deposited with the court registrar.

Equally she ruled that the sureties must reside within the court Jurisdiction and with a veryfiable residential documents and a recent passport to be deposited in the court registry.

She further ordered them to be remanded in Suleja Correctional Custody until they perfect their bail conditions.

Those granted bail according to Justice Bawa Wodu were those standing trial on five count charges of mischief, causing grievous,m hurt disturbance of Public peace while seven charged for culpable homicide punishable under Section 221 of the penal code should be Kept in Correctional Custody.

She then adjougned the case to 4th of January 2024 for the commencement of full trial of the case.
