Governor Abdullahi Sule said he would not go after those working against him as governor of the state because, as a Muslim, he is aware of the responsibilities bestowed on a leader.

Governor Sule stated this when he hosted executive members of the Tsangaya Quranic Reciters, led by the Sangarin Kwandere, HRH Alhaji Ahmadu Al-makura, at the Government House on Thursday.

According to the Governor, even though many have called on him to take stringent measures against such people, especially members of the opposition in the state who go to the extent of praying for his downfall, he would not bow to the pressure because of his understanding of what Islam said about the responsibilities of a leader.

“A lot of people are saying if it’s another governor, he would have dealt with all those working against his interest.

“I am aware of the immense responsibility bestowed on a leader by Islam, and I am willing to accommodate their attitudes,” he said.

While decrying a particular situation where a cultist at the state headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would openly pray for evil things to happen to him, Governor Sule said his religion rather encourages him to tow the path of tolerance and not vengeance.

He urged the members of the Quranic Reciters Association to include members of the opposition in their prayers so that they would understand the need for peaceful coexistence.

Governor Sule appreciated members of the association for their concern and prayers while his case was before the court of appeal.

The Governor called on them not to relent in their prayers even after the judgement at the Supreme Court in order to foster peaceful coexistence in the state.

Leader of the delegation and Sangarin Kwandere, HRH Ahmadu Al-makura, said the group agreed to host a series of prayers in order to protect the interest of the people of the state.

The royal father offered to continue with the prayers for peace to reign across Nasarawa State.
