…Demands secretary sanctioned for degrading constitution

Report by: Emmanuel Abi Couson

The Aferire-O’ne socio-political organization of Warri Kingdom has called on the leadership of the Itsekiri leaders of Thought, (ILOT, ) to sanction its Secretary, Mr. Sunny A. Mene for using its name to fester his personal agenda without recourse to the spirit and letters of the constitution.

The Warri- based Itsekiri pressure group made this call in reaction to an Itsekiri group led by the Mr. Ayiri Emami’s visit to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Headquarters in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, recently saying that it was ‘’patently wrong for Mr. A. S. Mene to gleefully introduce himself as the Secretary of ILOT and also read the statement of the Ayiri Emami group instead of introducing himself as a Benin based private school proprietor and former APC House of Assembly aspirant.

According to Aferire o’ne in a chat with newsmen, the chairman Prince Emmanuel Okotie- Eboh the immediate past regent of Warri kingdom and member of the Ginuwa 1 ruling House; Secretary, Prince’s Hosanna Jallogho1q, Alfred Apoh and Shola Amoye, all of Ginuwa 1 ruling House, Mr.A.S. Mene is trying to drag the revered name of ILOT, led by men of timber and caliber, dignity, integrity, intellectuality, and of course, directional compasses of the Itsekiri people.

“To be sure, the modus operandi to reach a consensus decision before any utterances were made is strictly adhered to,” the Group said.

They expressed regret that what Mr. Sunny Mene and his co-travellers have done amount to a complete disregard to the physical and spiritual Order of the mode of operation of the ILOT as nobody gave him the authority to pay a courtesy visit to the MD/CEO of the NDDC and therefore acted ultra – vires.

The Itsekiri group noted that great patriots like Alfred Rewane, Chiefs E.N.A Begho, O.N.Rewane, Hon. (Retd) Justice Ajuya, Pa. Urumatsoma, Chiefs O.P. Edodo, Isaac Jemide, Pa. J.O.S. Ayomike et al, in spite of their wealth, obeyed this simple laws of consensus and deliberation on any issue before making decision.

It is however noted for the records that the issues raised in his address to the MD/CEO of NDDC are critical issues of concern to the entire Itsekiri nation.

The body wishes to point out that there is only one authority and king in Warri Kingdom, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse111 (CFR) the Olu Of Warri whose consent and approval must be sort before any group of Itsekiri sons/daughters must venture out of the kingdom to make any developmental presentation of such magnitude as Mr.A.S Mene and his group did.

While many well- meaning Itsekiri patriots are working assiduously behind the scene to ensure that unity, peace and sustainable progress are achieved in the interest of the entire Itsekiri nation, we are disgusted that because of stomach infrastructural exigencies some others is decide to embarking on a voyage of self-destruct for personal aggrandizement.

It is against this background that we are calling on ILOT leadership to sanction its own Secretary, Mr. A.S. Mene for peddling the well-respected name (ILOT) and Mr. Alex Eyengho as was the case when the Alfa- May Club did to him for persisting in giving the Itsekiri apex body and some other members a black nose capable of eroding the good name and monoumental credibility/legacies be quited to the current leaders of ILOT.

The Aferire o’ne therefore commended the MD/CEO for warmly receiving the Itsekiri group like other ethnic groups that have visited the commission and charged him to accord the Itsekiri nation their rightful dues and privileges in the award of contracts and employment.

“We know that with your managerial acumen and administrative sagacity combined with enobling antecedents, you are set to leave behind in Itsekiri nation an enviable legacies in your memory”.
