Gombe State Government has promised to sign the Disability Bill into law in the first quarter of next year.
The commissioner of Justice and Attorney General Barr. Zubairu Mohammed Umar gave the hints when he receives the leadership of Joint National Association of People with disability (JONAPWD), Gombe State chapter in his office yesterday.
The commissioner said the bill will be carefully studied by the Gombe State Executive Council and be forwarded to the legislative arm of government for passage before the end of 2023.
Barr. Zubairu appreciated the representatives of the disability community in the state for their support and loyalty to the Inuwa Yahaya led administration in the state urging them to maintain the tempo.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation who is also the deputy chairman of JONAPWD Bala Jibrin Kwali said they were in the office to congratulate him on his re-appointment as member of the State Executive Council and also present to him a draft disability bill for onward transmission to the State Governor.
Malam Bala also explained that when the bill is signed in to law, it will go a long way in addressing many disability challenges in the state.
The visit was initiated by JONAPWD in collaboration with the Association of Non Governmental Organizations (ANGO), Civil Society Organizations, Stakeholders and the media who are key partner in the development of the draft Bill.
