The National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal in Kano has nullified the election of Muktar Yerima, who was representing Tarauni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Yerima, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was declared the winner of the February 18th, 2023 election, defeating Hafizu Kawu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Kawu, a former member of the House of Representatives, filed a petition challenging the legitimacy of Yerima’s victory due to a fake certificate.
The tribunal, consisting of three judges, upheld Kawu’s petition and invalidated Yerima’s election.
