Court Imprison woman for eating Heart of Her sons Girlfriend

An Osun State High Court has sentenced a 46-year-old woman, Bola Adeeko, to two years imprisonment.

Adeeko was convicted for consuming the cooked heart of a deceased final year student of Lagos State University, Favour Duley Oladele.

Adeeko’s 23-year-old son, Owolabi Adeeko, who was a student at LASU, was also convicted for luring his schoolmate and girlfriend, Favour, from Ogun State to Osun where she was killed for a money ritual.

The accused were charged in January 2020 and have been in prison since then.

The prosecution team from the state Ministry of Justice informed the court during trial that the convicts committed the offense on December 8, 2019, and were arraigned in court on November 15, 2021.

According to the prosecution counsel, Owolabi, one of the convicts, had invited his girlfriend, Favour, to meet his uncle at Ikoyi-Ile through a phone call on December 8, 2019. The purpose of this meeting was not specified in the given information.

The presiding judge, Justice Christiana Obadina, delivered her judgement declaring the prosecuting team successful in proving the guilt of Prophet Segun and Owolabi beyond reasonable doubt.

They were found guilty as charged for the murder of Favour and subsequently sentenced to death. Additionally, they were also sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for conspiracy.

Furthermore, the mother of Owolabi, who was unaware of the killing of Favour and only consumed a concoction given to her, was convicted for consuming human flesh. As a result, she received a two-year prison sentence.
