Mr James Lalu, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has advocated the need to ensure Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) get equal opportunity in the administration of federal government’s fuel subsidy palliative.
Lalu who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists on Sunday in Abuja, said persons with disabilities are the most vulnerable in this situation, hence the need to prioritise their welfare.
” We stand by the federal government’s fuel subsidy removal, while the government is working on the palliative to cushion the effect of the subsidy issue.
”Our request has already been forwarded and I am happy that the secretary to the government of the federation is handling the request.
” We are hoping that to see proper inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the management of this palliative so as to ensure that our members across the country are properly capture.
According to him, ” the cost of transportation has raisen and when you look at it, the needs of the Disability community also raises.
He also expressed confidence on the ability of the Tinubu Administration to secure a brighter future for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria
