The Royal Sport Club International (RCSi) Abuja has elected Kene Agabaenwere as the new captain.
Agabaenwere will pilot the affairs of the club for the next two years.
The new captain who took over from the outgoing, Chijioke Okonkwo was elected at the Club’s 2023 Annual General Meeting which held on Saturday 1st July, 2023 in Harris Hotels, Abuja.
Thr outgoing Captain, Chijioke in his handing over remarks stated that he was blessed to have the support of members during his time as Captain which resulted in the numerous innovative ideas, strategies and processes that have elevated the club to lofty heights.
He said the newly elected Captain, Kene as the Vice Captain then has been an integral part of this process and now saddles the helm of leadership with lots of experience that will stand him in good stead to continue the success story.
“It is wonderful to see that most of our Executives are willing to continue in one capacity or the other while younger members are also willing to take up leadership positions in the club. I am proud of them all and wish our new Captain and his Executives the best while urging all members to give them similar support to sustain and even do better than we have done in the past 4 years. Truly OFAAFO is not just a slogan but a way of life in RSC.”
The incoming President, Kene pledged to captain and lead with integrity, transparency, and compassion adding that he would listen to the concerns, ideas, hopes and aspirations of club members and make decisions based on what is best for the collective good of the club.
“Together, we will tackle the challenges we face head-on from our welfare to other club projects. The new Executive Council will work tirelessly to build a better future for the club.”
He also stated his topmost desires to achieve greater milestones for the club amongst other to include;
AFOOFA S: the clubs tenets of all for one and one for all remain sacrosanct. We will Continue to strengthen the families ties and bond of friendship that exists in the club.
– Revamp and upgrade our football arena to an enviable standard
– Commence and complete the club house.
– Strengthen and streamline the process of admission and induction of new members
– Increase the capital base of the club by exploring investment opportunities that will attract more revenue yields and interest to the club.
– Embrace other innovative ideas that will foster unity, growth and prosperity of the club, thereby creating an environment where everyone will feel welcomed and valued.
The RCSi which was established in 2003 and registered as an incorporated trustee in 2008 is a sports and social club based in Abuja, and made up of members of various professional bodies.
The primary sporting activity of the club is soccer, however the club has included other activities such as Scrabble and chess to accommodate other interests of members.
Aside from sports, the club also engages in other welfare activities such as; Charity visits to motherless babies’ homes, orphanages, hospitals, and prisons; Talk show/seminars on family, healthy living, investment and our society; Provide support for members during weddings, births, deaths, etc; and Fostering relationships with similar organizations in Nigeria and across Africa.
The RCSi is opened to all individuals that pass the prerequisites, and are desirous of enjoying and promoting healthy living through sports and responsible citizenship.
