Motorist plying the popular Abuja-Lokoja Highway were at standstill at Giri Community in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, as a result of flood from rainfall that started early hours of Tuesday morning.
Motorists coming from Zuba Axis had to use alternative routes, especially through Kuje Area Council to get access to Kwali and Abaji respectively.
The same thing for those coming from Lokoja to Gwagwalada Axis to the city centre.
Most of the drivers who witnessed the flooding called on the authorities concerned to come to their rescue, saying that the situation happens almost at the same time of every year.
The chief of Anguwar Kaura community in Giri Mr Bako Ndazhaga, called on the FCT Administration to come to their aid considering the importance of the Road and the People living around the community.
However, Ndazhaga also advised residents of the community to stop building along the waterways to prevent future occurrence.
Though no life was lost, two cars were however swept away in the flood. Meanwhile traffic movement has returned as normalcy fully back to life.
