Mr Max Amuchie, immediate past President 2022/2023, Rotary Club Abuja, CBD, says the club is committed to impacting society through rendering service.
Amuchie said this at the 7th Award and Handover Dinner of Rotary Club Abuja CBD, tagged Synergy to Hope, on Sunday in Abuja.
He handed over leadership to his successor during the event.
The club’s year begins every July 1 as Amuchie’s tenure ended on June 30.
As a new President, Rotarian Aisha Ali takes up the mantle of leadership after an election on July 1.
The club conducts elections and change leadership annually.
According to him, the humanitarian principles of rotary club is likened to the works of the Catholic Prophesion of mercy.
“We are talking about shelter to who does not have, visiting the sick, burying the dead, and talking about feeding the hungry, just as we have seven agents of focus in rotary.
“So when the opportunity came for me to become the president, I said I would do something in that community, like building a health clinic in Gidan Gimba, our adopted community.
“And just by our intervention we succeeded in bringing back a public school in Nasarawa State,
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams and I said rotary is an organisation that believes in the beauty of its dreams.
“We believe in the beauty of our dreams; we dreamt that we will open and dedicate a centre and primary school in Gidan Gimba and we made it happen in 2022/2023.
The past president said there was no better person who it could fit better to take the club further to that world than president Aisha Ali.
recalled that recently the Abuja CBD inaugurated three toilets for Gidan Gimba Primary School, in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State and in addition constructing two classrooms for the school.
In her speech, Rotarian Aisha Ali, President 2023/2024 said she would work to ensure that the legacy that had been laid by past presidents would be upheld.
According to her, it is a soft landing for her as the 7th president of the rotary club of Abuja CBD.
“I count on your support and commitment and I urge you all to take up your first responsibility as a Rotarian to take rotary club of Abuja to a greater height.”
She said she would not make decisions alone but would carry everyone along, adding that all the contributions of members would be needed to deliver societal value that would benefit humanity.
The high point of the event was the presentation of plagues to members who had attained the Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF).
The Paul Harris Fellowship is awarded to rotarians who have made contributions totaling 1000 dollars and above, worth of donation for humanitarian services.
Also, nine new inductees were inducted into the club.
