The passport of the embattled Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has been said to be confiscated by the State Security Services.
NewsSpecng had earlier reported that the CBN Governor was arrested in Lagos last weekend and subsequently flown to Abuja.
It was also reported that his home and office was searched for vital documents.
In line with what has been termed as standard procedure, the former governornof the apex bank would have his travel document seized pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
Asides from revisiting the criminal charges it earlier filed against Emefiele which borders on terrorism financing and fraud, the SSS might also arrest or invite top directors of the CBN for questioning over their roles in the administration of the apex bank.
Emefiele has also been accused of mismanaging the CBN subsidiary, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending and the Anchor Borrowers Programme.
