Nasarawa State Police Command said it has apprehended a 23-year-old man, Ezra Wadata, for purportedly killing his friend, Moses Maidoki, and looting his motorcycle.
Ezra reportedly stabbed Moses to death in Kubwa, Abuja, and fled to his hometown in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the detainment in an interview with Daily Trust in Lafia, the capital city.
Nansel revealed that Ezra and Moses, who lived together in Abuja, clashed, leading to the crime.
After two weeks of resolving the dispute, Ezra murdered Moses, stole his bike, and hid the corpse in the house.
However, the smell emanating from the building alerted people in Kubwa, who reported the matter to the police.
After discovering Moses’ death, the police pursued Ezra, who quickly sold the stolen motorcycle in Abuja before escaping to Ninga, his village.
Police in Nasarawa State arrested him there.
Nansel disclosed that the suspect had confessed to the crime and that investigations were ongoing under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba.
