President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mamman is been investigated over alleged N22billion fraud.
Reports say the former minister was arrested early Wednesday, and subsequently detained at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency.
Mamman is alleged to have conspired with staff of the ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects and diverted N22billion, which they shared amongst themselves.
The investigations have also uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas linked to the suspects, while millions of Naira and United States Dollars have been recovered.
The Taraba State-born Mamman, who was appointed by the President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2019, was dismissed in 2021 after two years in office.
