2023: APC secures majority in Senate, House of Reps

 The All Progressives Congress, APC so far has sucured a majority in the Senate and House of Representatives.

According to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, 423 winners have emerged for national legislative seats. 

He however said supplementary elections will be held in 46 constituencies.

 

 He explained that 98 out of 109 seats have been declared for the Senate while 325 out of 360 seats have been won by eight political parties.

According to the breakdown, APC has 57 seats in the Senate, PDP, 29, Labour Party 6, APGA 1, ADC 2, NNPP 2, YPP 1

For the House of Reps, APC has 162 seats, PDP 102, Labour Party 34, NNPP 18, SDP 2, YPP 1, APGA 4.

Yakubu revealed that “Certificates of Return will be presented to Senators-elect on Tuesday 7th March 2023 at 11.00am at the National Collation Centre (the International Conference Centre), Abuja, while Members of the House of Representatives-elect will receive theirs the following day, Wednesday 8th March 2023, at 11.00am at the same venue. 

“However, for effective crowd management, each Senator/Member-elect should be accompanied by a maximum of two guests.”
