Youths and residents on Monday, disrupted the peace in the ancient city Benin, the Edo State capital.
They trooped out in their numbers to protest what they called protracted fuel scarcity and hike in the price of petroleum products in the state.
The angry residents erected burn fires on some roads in the city.
In a video making the rounds on social media, one could see residents burning tyres and barricading the road as they protest.
One of the protesters was heard saying :
“This is happening live in Benin City, Edo State capital; huge protests are going on over the fuel crisis. You can see protesters block roads and make fire on the roadblocks.”
The anger of the residents was that petrol is being sold to them for as high as N400 per litre.
The angry residents took their protest to the state House of assembly where they also lamented the high rate of poverty in the state which has led to an increase in crime in the state.
They called on the Government to do something quickly about all their demands.
