NSCDC gets 93 new operational vehicles

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has acquired 93 newly operational vehicles.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, Thursday commissioned the vehicles in Abuja. 

Among the vehicles commissioned were 27 ambulances, 2 Toyota 13 seaters buses, and 2 Toyota 15 seaters buses.

Speaking at the commissioning, the minister said, “The Federal Government is intolerant to anything that will threaten the safety, security and peace of Nigerians.

“The Ministry under my watch remains committed towards strengthening the capabilities and capacities of these programs of government to effectively deliver on their mandates.

“Today’s occasion therefore is in line with the proactive steps of the government towards addressing the security challenge in the country.”

He urged the leadership of the Corps to effectively use the vehicles for its purposes. 

In his remark, the Commandant-General, NSCDC, Ahmed Audi said the Commission was part of the ongoing reform in the Corp aimed at enhancing its performance in handling security in the country.

He said “Today’s commissioning is very significant towards enhancing the core capability of the Corps to effectively deliver on its mandates.

“The last one year has been a very challenging experience as the Corps leadership under my watch had to embark on a massive reorganization and reform processes aimed at reengineering, revitalizing and restrategizing the Corps for better performance.

“The commissioning is part of the ongoing reform process of the Corps,” he said.
