The last may not have been heard about what should become of surrendered Boko Haram fighters.
Borno State Government on Sunday held a stakeholders’ meeting on how to tackle the situation, with a pointer to supporting soft landing for the terrorists.
Many Nigerians have kicked against the Federal government granting blanket pardon to fighters who have killed and maim many innocent Nigerians.
The meeting, which is held in the Government House Maiduguri, was chaired by Gov. Babagana Zulum.
Representatives of various sectors of the society, including security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, national and state lawmakers, the media and women.
Zulum called on the people to speak their minds to enable Borno to come out with a workable plan to deal with the issue.
According to him: “Borno has found herself in a very difficult situation to either avert a protracted war and accept the surrendered Boko Haram or reject them and they will join ISWAP”.
