The Chairman, Ministerial Expert Advisory Committee on Covid-19 Response, Prof. Oyewale Tomori on Wednesday gave reasons why the country cannot produce Covid-19 vaccines in Nigeria.
Tomori, who is also the chairman, board of Bio-Vaccines Nigeria Limited, BVNL spoke during the 23rd National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors in Abuja.
He said the inconsistent government policies and personal selfish interest are the major challenges why FG cannot produce Covid-19 vaccines.
“Inconsistent government policies that makes it impossible to set and meet long term goals and objectives.
“Overriding of national interests by personal interest that ensures that Nigeria continues to import vaccines through translucent procurement process.”
He also added, “the time bomb obstacles placed in the way of doing business, whereby getting approvals become over tedious and dealing with pretenders who loudly proclaim and carry the baner and flag of accountability and transparency but gunning to milk the country dry.”
