The Bauchi State Police Command has vowed to deal with criminals and disgruntled elements who might want to cause a breach to the peace and security of the state declaring that anyone found wanting would not be spared.
The Command, in a statement made available to journalists on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Abiodun Sylvester Alabi, has ordered the deployment of officers and men to all praying and other places across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
According to the statement, the Command, which will partner with other security agencies and all critical stakeholders in the state, is prepared to perform its statutory responsibility of the protection of lives and properties of innocent citizens in the State before, during and after celebration.
“To this effect, the CP has ordered the deployment of Officers and Men comprising Conventional Police and other Tactical Teams of the Command as well as necessary logistics to all praying grounds and venues of events in the State.
“Personnel deployed for this critical assignment are under strict instruction of the Commissioner of Police to be civil but firm in the discharge of their duties.
“The strategic officers will strengthen the visibility policing structure and carry-out confidence building patrols particularly praying grounds around residential areas, major highways, Government/private infrastructures to prevent and arrest any ugly situation,” the statement stated.
It added, “The Command is prepared to deal with hoodlums, political thugs and other disgruntled elements that may attempt to cause break down of law and order before, during and after the festive period.
“Finally, the CP wishes to extend his warm greetings to all Muslim faithful and other citizens in the state as they celebrate Eid-el Kabir and enjoins them to co-operate with police and other security agencies in their efforts towards ensuring peaceful celebrations, and equally report any suspicious person or object to the nearest Police Station or call the Command’s emergency phone number: 08151849417.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State Sector Command, has said it is deploying no fewer than 533 personnel across the state to aid the free flow of traffic in order to prevent loss of lives and properties through accidents during the Sallah.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Bauchi State, Corp Commander Yusuf Abdullahi, stated this in a statement made available to journalists.
He said that 20 operational vans, 10 ambulances and 10 Recovery/Tow vans would be used for the exercise which will commence on 16th to 26th July, 2021 adding that one Help area/Road side clinic has been set up along Bauchi – Alkaleri federal highway.
Some of the programmes to be carried out, Abdullahi said, are Traffic control, aggressive public enlightenment on Radio and Television, subtle enforcement, alcohol test, installation of red flags along the highway at some identified road traffic crash prone locations among others.
