Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja Gwagwalada, FCT, will on Wednesday June 30th launch three of his recent Literature books in the main campus.
Dr Habib Yakoob, Head, Information and University Relations of the University disclosed this in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.
According to the statement, the books to be launched are; Seriya (2019), Omokewu (2020) and Yoruba Oral Tradition in Islamic Nigeria, A History of Dàdàkúàdá (2020).
Na’Allah, said Seriya and Omokewu, are both folk plays which reflects the communal philosophy, discipline, and local upbringing of the playwright, and draw on the need to build a valid future for subsequent generations.
He added that the book on Yoruba oral tradition locates the oral performance of Dàdàkúàdá genre of music within the Islamic Yoruba setting, and helps to fuse tradition, creativity and politics, thereby asserting the significance of the form.
The statement revealed that launching will be chaired by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.
However, the statement said, Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, is a professor of Comparative Literature, born on December 21, 1962 in Ilorin, Kwara State, author of over 25 books, and several scholarly works.
“He is a reviewer for several national and international journals; and has published in reputable peer-reviewed journals as well as supervised several Ph.D candidates.
“A well travelled academic, has attended over 50 conferences within the country and abroad and despite his busy schedule as vice-chancellor of the University of Abuja, he still finds time to write books,” the statement said. (NAN)
