Widows of fallen heros trained by NAPAAS

Widows of service men who lost their lives in the course of service to the country have been trained by the National Asset Acquisition scheme (NAPAAS) on skill acquisition to enable them take care of their families in the absence of their bread winners.

Apart ftom the training, the widows were also offered scholarships, loans and provided with health care services, farming equipment and affodable shelter.

Managing Director of NAPAAS, Mr Wali Bello  disclosed this yesterday in Abuja to reporters during the official opening of NAPAAS assembling plant and service centre.

Bello appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Defence, retired Major General Bashiru Magashi, Nigerian Legion, security agencies, National Assembly and stakeholders for the endorsementnof the scheme.

He added, “The purpose of establishing the skill acquisition training centre is to equip the widows of those who lost their husband in the course of service to their country. He advised the widows to utilise this rare opportunity to be self reliant.

“In a bid to equip the wives of ex-servcemen and widows of the fallen heroes, National Asset Acquisition scheme, NAPAAS, has officially opened the Service Centre Workshop and Skill Acquisition Taining Centre  to be named Muhammadu Buhari Centre.”

In a remark, the National cordinator NAPAAS, Mr Eze Nnadi said, the plight of the widows of the fallen heroes is one of the major reasons why NAPAAS was established in 2016.

He said apart from the training, their organisation has also offered scholarship, loans and had also provided health care services, farming equipment and affodable shelter to the widows. He enjoined the women to be attentive and  respinsible.

Also speaking , the President of the ex-servicemen Association, Retired Warrant Officer Anthony Agbas who commended NAPAAS for his laudable contribution to veterans and the widows of fallen heroes urged them to imbibe the spirit of hardwork and determination.

Earlier, the trainer, Mrs Hadiza Kuta said the training is to develop the widows to be self reliant as she encouraged and prayed that God will grant them wisdom to remain good mothers.
