The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) North Central Support Group Alliance has chided former Goverrnor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu over his verbal attacks on Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.
The group in a statement signed by Owotunmise Olugbenga, Secretary General, PDP North Central Support Group Alliance Forum reminded the former governor of his past deeds during the 2014 presidential poll.
We the PDP North Central Support Group Alliance Forum wish to condemn the recent comment made by the battered former governor of Niger State, Aliyu Babangida on our highly revered governor of River State, Governor Nyesom Wike.
Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have responded following the response of the party in the state, dissociating self from such careless and reckless statement. But for the purpose of making our position clear and our voice heard on the matter, we make this reponse for the records.
It is no longer news that the frustrated former governor, who is looking for who to transfer his fraustration and aggression to, worked against our dear party, President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 re-elections bid and never denied same.
For him to have referred to Governor Wike as a dictator shows his level of complexity since he can not match the capacity and track record of His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, governor of River State.
“It could be recalled that the battered former governor Aliyu Babangida’s selfish ambition to burry a party he killed in the State has stalled the democratic congress in the State as he insists he will force his hand picked Party Exco against the popular wish of party members in the state. We have no doubt that his Exco will help him burry the party in the state come 2023 as he as usal will play anyi-party.
“He has been accused of diverting ecological funds of the Federal Government, released to Niger State in 2014, to the tune of about N1.940 billion.
“We want to advise that the ex-governor face his eight count money laundering charge which will be used as a bait to get him to work against the party at the appropriate time.
“Aliyu should stop looking for cheap popularity and sympathy by attacking Governor Nyesom Wike unprovoked.
“As it is now, our dear party needs more of unity and peace rather than utterances that can divide the party if we are serious about salvaging our dear nation from the present clueless government by taking over power in 2023.
“We therefore wish to encourage the leadership of our party to disregard unserious entities and entreaties, their pranks of supporting the NWC, while they are intentionally putting the part apart. They are playing a script for a consideration. We know Aliyu Babangida better. He did it in 2015, he will do it again. “
