The Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade on Monday sacked nine of his aides of their jobs.
Four of them are commissioners.
Their sack was made known through a statement by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita.
According to the statement, “The State Governor, His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade has approved the relieve of the following persons of their appointments: Mr Mike Usibe (Commissioner for New Cities Development), Rita Ayim (Commissioner for Women Affairs), Mr Asu Okang (Commissioner for Information and Orientation), and Ntufam Donatus Etim (Commissioner for Climate Change and Forestry).
“Similarly, the underlisted persons have also been relieved of their appointments: Mr Leo Inyambe, Rt Hon Orok Otu Duke, Mr. Victor Okon (Alausa), Mr John Etim Bassey and Hon Agbiji Mbeh Agbiji.”
The statement added, “Consequently, they are hereby directed to return government properties and vehicles in their care with immediate effect to the Chief Staff to the governor.
“His Excellency thanks them for their services to the state and wishes them well in their future endeavours.”
It was alleged that some of the affected commissioners had earlier resigned on their own following the governor’s defection from PDP to APC on Thursday, May 20.
