There was little scare in one of the schools in Arab road in Kubwa, FCT as rumour of attempted pupil kidnapping filled the air.
A man with suspicious movement was spotted around the school, Royal Touch international school, which attracted the attention of the school security and school bus drivers and after the school authority interrogated him, the police was invited in.
But before the police could come around, the news had gone out, as it was recorded and posted online by an unknown person. The video which went viral caused panic but the school authority was fast in quelling the report as it put the record straight
According to messages put out by the school authority, the viral video was not the true reflection of what happened.
The school explained, “This is to notify you that there was no kidnap at Royal Touch International School, Abuja yesterday, 18th May, 2021.
The real story according to the school was that “There was a man who came to the school. When we noticed that his movement and the type of questions he was asking was suspicious, we quickly invited the police who promptly arrested him and he was taken to the phase 4 police station.
“As a result of police investigation, it was discovered that the man is mentally unstable.
“With the police IPO, we were able to locate his family home in gbazango, off Arab road. The parents were advised to take him to a rehabilitation home.
“When the man was being arrested, it was recorded and posted online by an unknown person.
“The impression they are creating in the video is not the true reflection of what happened.
