Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, on Sunday, personally led an operation to smash a suspected hard drug peddling gang in Calabar.
It was gathered that the raid, which took the suspected drug peddlers unawares, took place at the popular Watt Market in Calabar.
At the end of the raid, 14 suspects were arrested with various illicit substances suspected to be hard drugs.
Details about the raid were sketchy at the time of this report. However, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo confirmed the raid to our correspondent.
According to her, “The CP followed some of our men to arrest some boys where they were selling drugs in a hideout at Watt Market.
“Fourteen of them were arrested with drugs.”
Some suspects who were paraded recently by the Command were arrested in connection with illicit drugs.
