The Vice President, Institute for Crisis Resolution Peace Building and Conciliation, ICRPC, Asiwaju Shittu on Saturday said more trainings and adequate knowledge are needed to intervene in conflict/crisis management.
Shittu stated this in Abuja during the induction of new members of the institute and conferment of Peace Ambassador Awards.
He charged the members to attend more courses and undergo trainings so as to become security and peace experts.
“Do not wait for the government to intervene in the security situation in our country. For the role you have to play in peace building, attend more courses and undergo trainings”.
The institute inducted six members and also confer Peace Ambassador awards to eight of its members in recognition of their immense contribution towards peace building in Nigeria.
Aliyu Ibrahim, one of the inductees said he is ready to “give back to the institute in terms of advocacy as there is need to raise peace ambassadors in the Nigeria educational institutions”.
Another inductee, Mohammed Keri urged the institute to continue striving and working hard towards achieving peace in the Nigeria.
In the same vein, the awardees thanked the institute for recognizing their efforts and pledged to become good peace ambassadors.
“As a peace ambassador, I have more work to do. I will continually represent the institute,” Musa Aileru, an awardee said.
