UPDATED: 25 Ambassadors-Designate get letters of credence

Twenty-five (25) Ambassadors-Designate on Friday received their letters of credence.

The Ambassadors-Designate have had to endure a tourtuous six months waiting after been cleared by the senate last year September.

The 25 Ambassadors-Designate were presented their letters by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Deputy governor of Kano state, Nasir Gawuna and representative of Police Affairs Minister in Abuja.

The other 74 are yet to get clearance from the countries they are posted to. They are waiting for the agreemo, which is a letter of consent of acceptance from their host countries.

In his opening remarks, Onyeama charged the Ambassadors-Designate to represent President Muhammadu in their various countries accredited to them.

“This appointment is a testimony to the confidence President Muhammadu Buhari has in you to represent him in the various countries.”

He assured the Ambassadors-Designate that the ministry will always be available to provide them with support even though it might not be enough.
