The recent killimg of a Nigerian, Abudu Adebayo Temitope in South Africa have been linked to businea disagreements.
This is as the Nigerian Citizens Association (NICASA), has called on the South African authorities to investigate Abudu’s killing and ensure the culprit is brought to justice.
The 40 years old Abudu is a well known person to the locals in South Africa.
According to some sources, the Nigerian was a jolly good fellow, who had close relationships and dealings with the locals.
The source said it won’t be surprising if Abudu’s killing wasnt a hit.
The source said, “He (Abudu) work along with some local Zulu and usually move around with them very well. He moves around the Carlton center area of Johannesburg. He is a well known character around these areas.
“So it is not known what deal could have led to his death. It may be business related.”
Speaking on the issue, NICASA President, Prince Benjamin Okoli who expressed shock at the gruel murder of Abudu in a response to inquiry from The Nation stated, “We received the information of his death with shock. We are on the case and urged the police to ensure the culprits are arrested and prosecuted accordingly. We are not sure yet what led to his death, we trust that the police will through their investigation throw more light on the case to bring closure to the family.”
It will be recalled that the family of Abudu had petitioned the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) over the death of Temitope, who was killed by a yet-to-be identified assailant in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In the petition signed by Mr. Abudu Olatunde Mustapha, a brother to the deceased, implored the Commission to investigate the killing of his brother Adedayo and bring the culprits to justice.
He narrated that his brother, who lived in Delvers street, Central Johannesburg South Africa, was gunned down on January 5th, 2021 by unknown gunmen for no just cause.
According to him, his brother Adedayo was assassinated in cold blood by an unknown gunman and was rushed to Hilbrow Community Health Center by some eyewitnesses where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased, a native of Ijebu-Ode Ogun state, Nigeria was married with three children, left behind five siblings, who are all based in Nigeria.
The petitioner, Mustapha claimed that Adedayo was a law abiding citizen who was going about his lawful business in South Africa and had no criminal records both in South Africa and Nigeria.
He appealed to NiDCOM to help the family unravel the mystery behind the wicked killing of the breadwinner of the family.
When contacted, the Head of NiDCOM Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun confirmed the receipt of the petition by the Commission.
Balogun said that all petition are written to the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, who immediately had minuted and directed the Legal Department of the Commission to take up the matter.
