No fewer than 21 passengers were abducted on Sunday by gunmen in Niger state.
The only passenger to have eacaped abduction among the 22 passengers on the travelling bus was a breastfeeding mother.
The Passengers were traveling from Kontagora to Minna in Niger state Transport mass transit bus when it was attacked at Yakila village in Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred about 2pm with 21 out of 22 passengers abducted in the attack.
The bus it was learnt was forced to stop as gunmen were shooting sporadically, asking everyone to disembark before heading them into the bush.
The woman that escaped abduction was traumatised with what she saw as she nartayed her ordeal.
She said the gunmen blocked the road, ordered them to come down and went away with the other passengers saying she does not know why she was not taken along.
Efforts to get the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation were also abortive as their phones were switched off.
However, the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Mallam Ibrahim Inga confirmed the incident.
He said he met the incident when he was returning from Kagara for the revalidation of his APC membership in company of the Chief of Staff to the Niger state Governor.
He said that no government official was in the bus.
