Government efforts to improve access to healthcare recieved a boost as a Foundation, Barrister Chika Rita Okwuosah Foundation ( BCROF) renovated the Odekpe prinary Health centre in Anambra state.
The essence the foundation said is to help reduce maternal mortality in Odekpe Community and environs.
The foundation also donated hospital essentials such as hospital beds, mattresses, pillows , bed sheets and pillow cases.
The donation and renovation is part of activities to mark the second year memorial of late Barr Chika Rita Okwuosah.
At the commissioning of the health center, in Anambra state the BCROF BOT chairman, Sir Dozie Okwuosah highlighted the works done by the foundation which includes changing of borehole submersible pump, provision of bed sheets and pillow cases for the ten hospital beds.
”Replaced one wing of damaged Aluminum roof, damaged ceiling boards, Ceiling Fans, replaced damaged doors (three in number) tiled the health center outside wall.
“Relocated the window burglary proof from outside to inside, replaced the mosquito nets, replaced all leaking wash hand basins, painted the whole health center (in and outside) including the water tank stand.”
Sir Okwuosah noted that the foundation was established on 25th Feb. 2019 in memory of Barr. Chika Rita-Ann Okwuosah with the aim to passionately advocate and support the health
and well-being of girls and women across Nigeria.
According to him,”Ogbaru has always been core to our objectives as true growth and development begins from a
commonplace, home in this regard.”
“It came as no surprise that when we received a plea from the Odekpe people for BCROF to renovate the health center, we immediately commenced the project that we are all
here to celebrate its completion and official commissioning.”
On his part, the chairman in charge of Odekpe Primary Healthcare Centre. Hon Nwawuna Obi John commended the foundation for the support the community.
Hon John who called on other well to do Nigerians to take a cue from the foundation did, said the late Chika was well schooled.
She has been so good even to the parent, but today God told us whether is good or bad ,we have to be giving thanks to him.”
“When this our health care center was brought down, we had to call on the foundation to help us, during the raining season we cant even use it, because the roof is leaking.”
Also speaking, BCROF community women leader, Mrs Uche Osadebe appreciated the foundation for the gesture.
“The foundation has done alot for rape and gender based violence victims in the community and neighbouring communities.”
“So many people are happy and thanking God for what the parents of Chika had use the foundation to do for women and girls,even Chika herself will be very happy for what her parents her doing right now.”
