…. Exercise will confirm Kano as the largest democracy in Nigeria – Ganduje
The Chairman National Registration Committee of the on-going All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration, update and revalidation exercise, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has warned leaders and party members against attempt to hijack registration materials with a view to manipulating the exercise.
He said the party will not tolerate any act that will undermine the integrity of the exercise, adding that “domination of registration process by an individual or group will also not be accepted.”
The governor handed down this warning on Wednesday in Abuja while inaugurating the State Registration Committees for the party’s on- going members registration, update and revalidation exercise.
The National Registration Committee Chairman also said that the success of the exercise primarily conceived to increase the base of the party will determine the party’s chances in future elections.
According to Sani Bello, “The whole intention of this exercise is to expand our membership base. We believe that when this (registration) is done, it will increase our chances in the next coming election.”
He said the exercise became necessary with influx of new members, the glee of decampees and young boys and girls who have reached 18 years and are willing to join the party, noting that membership registration was last conducted in 2014.
He then asked the committee at the state level to ensure that no one is left unregistered. “Please note that the objectives of this exercise is to ensure that no one is left behind and to make sure that any interested person or group are free to join APC.”

Also, Kano State Governor, Dr. Umar Abdullah Ganduje said his state was set to use the exercise to retain her position as the largest democracy in the country with the expected membership figure it will return after the exercise.
Expressing optimism for the success of the exercise, the Kano State Governor, Dr. Ganduje said party members and new entrants yet to be registered across the country are eager for the exercise.
Ganduje noted that with the level of preparation for the exercise and the efficient registration process put in place, the party will end up with high membership figure.
On preparation in his state, Ganduje said as the largest demy in the country, the state was set to retain her position.
“We (Kano) are the largest democracy in Nigeria through the registration exercise we shall prove to all that we are in deed the largest democracy in the country,” Ganduje boasted.
