The Labour Party (LP) has placed a demand on President Muhammadu Buhari to come up with innovative and creative ideas to rescue Nigeria from imminent collapse.

The party warned that unless a timely and courageous attention is giving, the ship of the country maybe heading for the rocks.

LP National Secretary, Barrister Julius Abure in a statement in Abuja on Monday complained that insecurity in the country has assumed a frightening dimension and a threat to the corporate existence of the country.

The party argued that the economic effect of insecurity in the country earned her the global rating of poverty capital of the world and lamented that the situation is taking hard toll on the citizens, the economy and the corporate existence of the country.

According to Abure, “There is no gasaying the fact that the alarming rate of insecurity in our dear country Nigeria has assumed a frightening dimension in the form of Boko Haram, bandits, herdsmen, kidnapping e.t.c. and as such, threaten the corporate existence of the country.

“Bandit have taken over different parts of the country to the extent that citizens are murdered every day, kidnapped and extorted. Our people can no longer travel on roads safely without being kidnapped or killed by bandits.

“Citizens can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed for fear of being murdered or kidnapped. Farmers no longer access their farms as they are being killed in their farms, while women are raped. A country with such high level of insecurity cannot enjoy economic growth. It will definitely not be able to attract direct foreign.

“Insecurity is one of the major reasons why Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. National security is no doubt a panacea for economic growth and development.”

The party then called on President Buhari to rise to the occasion with innovative and creative ideas to rescue the country from imminent collapse.

It also charged government to begin to confront the high rate of youth unemployment, observing that “high rate of crime and criminality is a bye product of unemployment, hunger and poverty”.
