The Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga is dead.
Nkanga was said to have died of Covid-19 complications.
Nkanga, 68, breathed his last on Christmas Eve.
He has been a strong advocate on issues bordering on the development of the Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, including restructuring.
Nkanga, who served as the military administrator of Akwa Ibom State from September 1990 to January 1992, during the regime of former Military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida, retired as an Air Commodore in the Nigerian Air Force.
After his retirement from active military service, he became a member of the board of the Cooperative Development Bank in May 2001.
He later emerged as the governorship candidate of the defunct Nigeria Democratic Party (NDP) in the 2003 general elections.
