The FCT police command has debunked the news making the round of a renewed ENDSARS protest in Abuja.
The police in a terse statement issued on Monday also said the viral video and pictures of latest protest in social media are fake.
While urging residence of the capital city to go about their lawful duties, the police command also assured them of safety.
The statement reads: “The FCT Police Command wishes to debunk the viral videos and pictures in circulation in the social media suggesting that another ‘ENDSARS protest’ was staged in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday 7th December,2020. The Command wishes to categorically state that there was no ‘ENDSARS protest’ in the FCT, hence, members of the public are enjoined to disregard the video which is mischievous and intended to cause tension amongst residents. While urging residents to remain calm, law-abiding and go about their legitimate endeavors peacefully, the Command wishes reiterate its unflinching commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.”
